Reverend Al Schmid, Eldercare Pastor

Al Schmid, our Eldercare Pastor, graduated from Western Illinois University, and after a lifetime career of flying has finally found that there is a special treat to dine on Rhode Island clam chowder and Johnny Cakes. A former US Navy pilot and commercial aviator for more than 54 years, he has found there is nothing like Rhode Island “South County” cuisine anywhere else in the world.

Schmid is a father, a grandfather, a great-grandfather, and an ordained minister of the First Baptist Church, East Greenwich, RI. He enjoys visiting nursing homes and shut-ins as part of his ministry. The stories he shares are from the devotionals he uses during the visits.
He live in Exeter, RI with his wife Audrey. They both have experienced the “empty nest syndrome” but have one live-in, short haired miniature dachshund named Fenway, who hasn’t yet learned that a dog can change his life style by altering his ego.
Al has published a number of devotions books containing collections of his sermons, memories and short stories – all meant to be a quick read and very thought provoking.

Reverend Ebony Grisom, Resident Pastor

Ms. Grisom was born and reared in the Bronx, New York. She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a B.A. in African-American and African Studies. Shortly after college, she began a career in education, working in Admission Offices in Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and North Carolina. Pastor Ebony heard her called to ministry while serving a women’s ministry and in various lay ministries at a Baptist church in Massachusetts. As a seminarian, she had the opportunity to serve two congregations and one college chaplaincy in North Carolina. Prior to joining First Baptist Church (and Warwick Central Baptist Church) as a pastoral resident, Pastor Ebony earned an M.A. in American History at Providence College, and an M. Div. from Duke Divinity School. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her friends and family, antiquing, baking, crafting, traveling, and all things New York…especially the Yankees! “Reverend. Grisom was ordained in our church in October of 2016.”
